We have been a bit quiet at the moment but for good reason. For those that weren’t aware I have been hapu and 3+ weeks ago I gave birth to our pēpi Te Rua. Greatful everything went well but it was an intense start to the year. My haputanga meant I had to rest lots in the late stages and we had a few health scares after birth. Luckily all scares have turned out to be absolutely fine but it has taken a toll. Which is why we have been a bit quiet.
However, we have been catching up on videos and found that we’ve been mentioned a few times in WikiHouse videos over the past few months. We’ve been a bit down recently not being able to do much on any of our kaupapa so it was a nice surprise and a reminder of how far we’ve come.
We also got a shout out in the WikiHouse Skylark 0.2 release video. Our photo features at 3.37 timestamp and we get a mention at the 44.16 timestamp in the answer to Q&A.
The team PTL engineers in Christchurch have been working through with us and we found that Skylark 0.1 does not meet our NZ Resource consent standards. However, we have found the new design in Skylark 0.2 is much stronger and will meet our resource consent standards. We’ve very excited and working through what grants or options we have for funding for us to work through a prototype structure.
Being out on the whenua here has been revitalising but also we have the stresses of a new born and raising our two other tamariki as well. Now that we’re a few weeks into this journey the stresses are alleviating. I have deccided to take maternity leave this time while my partner returns to work. For those that don’t know I returned to work after the birth of my last child and my partner took paternity leave. So this time we decided to switch. However, I have decided to focus more on whānau and hapū kaupapa while I am on leave. It is important for us to pace ourselves and not overwork ourselves but it is also important to keep driving our kaupapa. No one will save our people other than ourselves. Our tīpuna held the answers and it is returning to this mātauranga that we can create solutions for our people.
